Held Secure
Being a dad has been such a great experience so far, it's amazing to actually experience those fatherly feelings that you've heard about, the love, the wonder, the sense of responsibility. When I hold our daughter, I realize that she is totally dependent on Carianne and I for her well being, and that even her smallest need can only be met through our intervention. it brings to mind Matthew 7 9-11 fron the New Testament,:
"9"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
I belive that God is referred to as our Father in scripture for good reason, and that even though flawed in fallen humanity, our own father-child relationships give us a glimpse of our relationship to God. There is contrast to His perfection, but also a model for us to follow.
